Barry Humphries — the comedic mastermind behind Dame Edna Everage — has been rushed to a Sydney hospital following complications following a recent surgery.

The Australian comedian, 89, was recently discharged following hip surgery, but due to a decline in health, was re-admitted.

Entertainment journalist Peter Ford told Sunrise that the performer had “a fighting spirit that he won’t give up easily”.
