He has starred in a slew of Hollywood blockbusters, but Travis Fimmel was just a regular guy down at the pub in Perth over the weekend.

Well, almost.

The actor, who is best known for his lead role as Ragnar Lothbrok in the cult TV show Vikings, made an under-the-radar visit to WA to promote his beer, Travla, at The Windsor Hotel.

The lager is a collaboration with MasterChef judge Andy Allen and was born from their mutual country backgrounds.

The Windsor is the first venue in the State to have the brew on tap and Fimmel made a surprise guest appearance on Friday to pull some frothies in celebration.

He was also at the South Perth pub last month to sink some pints with fans including former and current Eagles players Josh Kennedy and Jeremy McGovern.

Many punters at the weekend likely wouldn’t have recognised Fimmel due to his relaxed look.

Yet he is one of Australia’s most in-demand actors, having appeared in the movie Warcraft, the Ridley Scott-produced sci-fi series Raised by Wolves, and, most recently, the Stan mystery Black Snow.

Fimmel will next star in the TV adaptation of Trent Dalton’s acclaimed novel, Boy Swallows Universe.

Yet Travla seems to be his biggest passion, with the 43-year-old’s social media feed largely dedicated to snaps of him in amusing settings with a can of his beer.

The Windsor manager Max Andrews said Travla had proven popular in the month since it was added to their taps.

“Locals are loving the taste, the fact it’s low carb, how iconically Australian it is, and that it’s brewed using all Australian ingredients,” he said.
