Rugby lovers were in their element at the weekend as the State’s peak sporting group brought its South West Summer 7s competition to Gloucester Park.

Margaret River’s Lower Western Oval hosted a vigorous competition in a carnival-like atmosphere with food and coffee trucks, and a DJ to maintain the vibe.

Organisers told the Times they were thrilled with “a brilliant display of the rugby talent here in WA”.

About 20 teams travelled from across the State, with some even formed specifically for the RugbyWA summer competition.

Metropolitan as well as regional sides competed with more than 250 players involved in women’s, men’s and social competitions.
