UK Government report on Australia’s hydrogen market set to be launched at Bunbury industry conference

The UK Government is set to launch its report on Australia’s hydrogen market at an industry conference in Bunbury this week. The results of the study, carried out by global energy consultant company Xodus, will be revealed at the Innovative Industries of the Future Conference at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre on Tuesday and Wednesday. While little detail has been given away about the study’s results, Britain’s WA consul general Maria Rennie said she was looking forward to putting internationally important conversations into a local context. “The future of innovation is an exciting topic and one that’s critical to our collective efforts towards achieving net zero, maintaining a rules-based international order and encouraging global prosperity,” she said. “Greater collaboration between the UK and Western Australia in the hydrogen sector is just one of the many opportunities we can explore together during the event.” Green energy will be a significant theme of the conference, with discussions around challenges and opportunities in the sector expected to feature prominently during the event. The UK will feature prominently on the second day of the conference, as Aberdeen and North East Scotland’s transition to new industries gets put under the microscope. Ms Rennie is not the only diplomatic heavyweight expected to attending, with the US consul general Siriana Nair and Indonesian consul general Listiana Operanata to join her on stage for a discussion on how to accelerate investments in future industries. Among the other topics expected to be discussed during the event are critical minerals, the AUKUS military agreement, and social licence. Bunbury mayor Jaysen Miguel will be the first major speaker at the conference, with his speech to discuss how the city expects to attract significant investment in the green energy transition. Acting South West Development Commission chief executive Ashley Clements said it was exciting to have the UK’s hydrogen study launched at the conference.
