Those wanting to take part in the IRONMAN 70.3 Asia-Pacific Championship in the South West later this year are out of luck, with places for the event now sold out.

Event organisers announced earlier this week there were no more spots left for those wishing to take part in the Busselton long-distance triathlon, which will take place on December 1.

Limited tickets still remain for the IRONMAN Western Australia event, which will be held on the same day.

Oceania managing director Geoff Meyer said the South West course continues to be popular with athletes from all over the world.

“Athletes from across Australia and around the world are set to make their way to Busselton for this event that is on the bucket list of so many triathletes,” he said.

“It’s easy to see why this event is popular amongst athletes, from the incredible swim that goes alongside and under the historic Busselton Jetty, to the flat and fast bike course and the run that is lined with cheering spectators.”

Busselton Mayor Phill Cronin said the result is a salute to organisers and the Busselton community.

“We look forward to welcoming athletes, their families and IRONMAN enthusiasts,” he said.

The IRONMAN 70.3 Western Australia Asia-Pacific Championship race will feature a 1.9km swim, 90km ride and 21.1km run.
