It was a round of thrills and spills on November 1, as round 4 of the Harvey Basketball Association 2022/23 season started at the Harvey Recreation and Cultural Centre.

In the men’s competition, the top two teams again asserted their dominance and remained undefeated going into round five.

The Mavericks’ final score of 56 points was not enough to defeat the top-seed Cowboys, who won the match with 74 points.

Cowboys player Jake Chapman dominated the hoops and nearly scored half of his team’s total points, bringing home a total of 35 to be the highest scoring player of the round.

The Cuxson duo scored most of the Mavericks’ points, with Jaxon Cuxson notching up 22 and Jordan Cuxson shooting 20 points.

The second-ranked Blazers had the biggest victory of the round, coming home with a 88-52 win against the sixth-placed Bulls.

Blazers player Callum Heap and Bulls player Chase Reeves were the highest point scorers for their teams, bagging 27 and 22 points, respectively.

In the other match of the round, the Suns were just too good for Kaizen Elite Basketball, 66-42.

The Suns’ William Narducci was king of the court, raking in a total of 24 points.

There was some disruption in the senior women’s competition, with LBH match against the Bulls being forfeited.

The round’s other game went ahead and was a close game between the Mettlers and the Fillies.

It was the former who got across the line at the final siren, with a score of 40-36.

Jennifer Hayes scored 17 of the Mettlers’ points, making her the highest point scorer of the match.

The top two teams in the men’s competition will battle it out on Tuesday night, with the Mavericks and the women’s Bulls sides having their byes.
