There will be carols and Christmas cheer in Waroona this week, with the town’s popular Christmas Gala making a grand return.

The Waroona Lions Club is hosting its ninth annual Christmas Gala this Friday at the Waroona Memorial Town Hall, with festivities starting at 5pm.

The event will feature a range of stallholders, food vendors, children’s entertainment and live music, with a visit from Santa Claus also lined up.

Waroona Lions Club member Lisa Fry is co-ordinating the event, and said she was excited to bring the festive spirit to the community.

“We’ve made a few changes this year,” she said.

“We’ve asked local businesses to light up their shops, so we’ll be running a bit of a competition for the shop with the best light display, and on the night we’re having a competition for all the boys and girls with the best fancy dress.”

Ms Fry said the club was also organising its annual Christmas hampers and raffles, which would be drawn on the night.

She said more than 20 stalls were expected to be set up at the gala, with a variety of wares for sale for those looking to buy gifts in the lead-up to Christmas.

“The hall will be packed with markets, the stage will have the band, and then on the oval we’ve got Perth Bouncy Castle Hire this year too, as well as the Lions Train running,” Ms Fry said.

“Everyone is welcome.

“We’re happy for anyone to come and join the fun.”

Ms Fry thanked the shire of Waroona, Alcoa Australia, and Charles Hull Contracting for supporting the event.
