Harvey PCYC and Camp Mornington close
Camp Mornington and the PCYC in Harvey have fallen victim to the financial pressures of COVID-19 and will not reopen post the pandemic.
PCYC run activities such as rhythmic gymnastics and rifle shooting, as well as camps and outreach services — all of which have been permanently closed. However, Harvey will not be the only town to get the axe. PCYC on Thursday confirmed that services in Serpentine, Exmouth and Quairading would also be closed. PCYC chief executive David van Ooran said a number of decisions had to be made in response to the pandemic.
“We know there will be a lot of disappointed children, young people and community members, but this is a necessary step to ensure PCYC can continue to provide life-changing programs.”
