It is not every day at school that you can make your own sherbert, get ‘locked up’ in a paddy wagon or experience virtual reality.

But those activities were among 45 different options available to students at the Waroona Memorial Hall on August 17 as St Joseph’s School Waroona held its first ever STEMathon.

It was not only St Joesph’s pupils who took part in activities, with primary students from nearby Waroona District High School also taking part in the exciting day.

A number of Waroona businesses and community volunteers helped ensure the event went off without a hitch, allowing the town’s young minds to explore everything science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
