A Peel town has seen its hopes for a future Spudshed mashed as spud king Tony Galati dismissed rumours the franchise may be setting up in town.

Since the closure of the Waroona NAB branch in November last year, locals have been speculating about whether Spudshed would take over the old establishment.

However, in a question and answer video posted on Spudshed’s Facebook page earlier this month, Mr Galati dismissed the rumours the franchise would be coming to town.

The first question in the short video Mr Galati responded to in the video asked if there was “any truth to the rumour” Spudshed was looking at the vacant block in the centre of Waroona town.

“Definitely that’s just a rumour,” Mr Galati told the viewers.

This style of question and answer video was used by Mr Galati earlier this year to announce Bunbury Forum would be home to the State’s newest Spudshed.

In his May video, Mr Galati said, “yes the rumour is true, we are opening up one of our megastores in Bunbury Forum by the end of the year.”

It is not yet known what will take over the currently vacant block in Waroona’s townsite.
