Seniors looking to improve their digital technology skills are being encouraged to take part in the BeConnected Program launching in Harvey next week.

Following the success of the program which ran at the Australind Library in July, the Harvey Library has partnered with the BeConnected initiative to provide the free digital technology classes.

The program will include group classes but can also be tailored to specific needs community members believe will be beneficial.

Australind Library librarian Laine Brown said she had a great response from Australind residents.

“We knew there was a demand but we have been blown away by the positive response to the program,” Ms Brown said.

Guests can expect to improve their technology skill with hands on demonstrations.

“We have been applying real-life examples and showing seniors how to use common applications such Whatsapp, Skype and Facebook Messenger,” Ms Brown said.

Seniors will also receive information on E-safety, privacy settings and what to look out for when using digital devices.

For more information or to RSVP to the launch in Harvey, contact the library on 9729 0390.
