Small halls from Kalgoorlie to Nannup have been packed with songs this past month, with the Festival of Small Halls making its way through the South West.
Last week it was Brunswick’s turn to host the festival with the Memorial Hall hosting songs and smiles.
Australian artist Alana Wilkinson and New Zealand artist Jed Parsons performed, alongside Harvey’s own Chanieve Sawtell opening the show.
Sawtell said she felt honoured to open the show and welcomed by her following artists and the community.
“This was really great,” she said.
“Music will always be my heart, so I’m always trying to do the best I can.”
Parsons followed, winning over the crowd with his boundless energy and comedic songs.
He said the crowd in Brunswick had been one of his favourites to perform for, with the community warm and accommodating.
“It always makes a huge difference when that’s the case, because then you can put on a great show,” he said.
Having never travelled to WA before, Parsons said he loved having the opportunity to travel and explore the State.
Wilkinson put on the final performance of the evening and mixed her own personal stories into songs.
“It was so warm, so fun, and just so playful,” she said.
“I’ve been to parts of WA I wouldn’t have been able to see otherwise.
“It’s just such a special thing to be a part of.”
The trio came together for a final song getting the whole community singing along before wrapping up.
Following their trip to Brunswick, the festival travelled to Elgin and Waroona before it’s final show in Williams on August 25.
