The final of three communications towers to be built in the Shire of Harvey has been approved after several delays.

At the most recent meeting, the Harvey Shire Council voted to support the construction of a telecommunications tower in Wokalup.

It is the third time the plans have come before the council, with delays on two occasions.

The tower is being planned as part of the Shire of Harvey’s partnership with Swoop Mobile for the Regional Connectivity Program, aiming to improve coverage for 5000 addresses within the Harvey shire.

The tower has been a contentious topic, with Wokalup residents Margaret and Robbie Cooper eager to have it as they told the Reporter they could not even call triple-0.

They hope the tower being constructed on the bottom of their block will give them access to the vital communications services they need.
