Waroona seniors are invited to learn how to best benefit from the Waroona Community Resource Centre’s newest program - Staying In Place.

Working in conjunction with InCasa country, Mable, and Services Australia, the CRC’s program offers the resources to help seniors stay at home with assistance.

The CRC will be an hosting a two-hour information session on October 10 from 10am with InCasa County general manager Misty Morton speaking at the event.

Ms Morton said she would help community members understand the programs, how they work, and what their options are locally.

She will also cover how people can make care an income stream.

Ms Morton said the advantages of people being able to stay at home as they age is “unquantifiable” providing social, emotional, humanitarian and economic benefits.

“We will outline the partnerships involved in the program and the pivotal role Waroona CRC plays in facilitating the local coordination service for community members,” she said.

“The ethos is locals supporting locals and everyone in the community can play a role in helping older people to stay in place as they age in their community.”

CRC manager Stuart Macdonald said he would like to see seniors who want to know more about healthcare packages, those struggling and those not happy with their current services at the session.

“Outside of Waroona this program has been an outstanding success,” he said

“To empower people, rather than go to respite or aged care facilities, to stay at home with family and have these services provided where they can be comfortable, it’s an amazing service.”
