West Coast Eagles player and former Harvey Primary School student Brady Hough makes surprise visit to students

It is not every day a primary school has an AFL footballer stop by, never mind one who is a former student. Yet that is the surprise students at Harvey Primary School received earlier this month when West Coast Eagles player Brady Hough paid them a visit. Students were given the chance to ask the Eagles utility questions about his AFL journey, love of football and his experiences. Following the session, Hough did the camera round with younger fans and signed hats, jumpers and shirts. His appearance coincided with the school’s cross-country day, with students from Year 1 to 6 running up to 3km around the school grounds. When some students were struggling with the course, Hough ran with them as encouragement to get them across the finish line. The school later received a visit from West Coast’s AFL Football in Education department, with Rick the Rock Eagle helping deliver important messages of being physically active, eating healthy and looking after mental health. Year 5 and 6 students participated in an AFL skills session as part of the visit.
