Refuge needs more wool for project to help animals
Maroo Wildlife Refuge is on the hunt for wool to knit into cute and cuddly toys to raise money for the refuge.
Maroo Wildlife Refuge owner Jo Burston said once the refuge received enough donations of wool they would look for people interested in being part of a knit-a-thon.
Animals endemic to this area, such as woylies, numbats, kangaroos and emus, will be made as toys.
“They’ll be one-off and unique toys we can sell to raise money for the day-to-day running of the refuge, food and vet bills,” Mrs Burston said.
Wool donation bins have been set up at The Reject Shop and Wicked Wares in Manjimup, Gentle Era – Arts and Craft Store in Bridgetown and the Balingup General Store.
Mrs Burston thanked the stores for their involvement and also encouraged groups or any individuals interested in being part of the knit-a-thon to contact her on 0409 086 973.
