MRC: Reece Walsh charged for illegal tackle on Daniel Tupou, two other players facing fines for Las Vegas foul play

Broncos superstar Reece Walsh has been hit with a mid-air ban for a shoulder charge on Roosters winger Daniel Tupou in Las vegas which will leave him with a decision to make when he arrives home from the US.

Walsh faces a two-game ban if he fights the charge and loses at the NRL judiciary, or he can cop a $3000 fine for an early plea.

The Broncos flyer was one of four players charged by the match review committee for incidents out of the historic Las Vegas double-header, with Roosters recruit Spencer Leniu referred directly to the judiciary for allegedly calling Broncos five-eighth Ezra Mam a “monkey”.

The contrary conduct charge was confirmed on Monday morning, although it’s unclear when the prop forward will have to front the judiciary given the Roosters are still overseas.

Meanwhile, Walsh’s shoulder charge was deemed a grade one which means he can avoid a ban for his desperate attempt to deny Tupou in the corner.

The Roosters challenged the call and Walsh was penalised for the illegal shot, with the flashy fullback free to face the Rabbitohs in round two if he takes the early guilty plea.

In the earlier game, Rabbitohs forward Jai Arrow was hit with a grade one charge for a crusher tackle on Jason Saab but can escape with a $1000 fine if he takes the early guilty plea.
