Premier Roger Cook has showed off his inner shantyman, belting out his own rendition of a classic The Beach Boys track in Bunbury.

Appearing in the South West to celebrate the opening of the Bunbury Outer Ring Road, now known as the Wilman Wadandi Highway, Mr Cook was brought on stage by The Castaway Shantymen, performing the classic Sloop John B.

Fitting for the opening of the road Mr Cook said will get him home from the South West 20 minutes quicker, the chorus of “let me go home, I wanna go home” was repeated by Mr Cook and his new band mates.

Mr Cook’s appearance interrupted the Castaways midway through there performance because he was running late, with the lead performer taking a cheeky dig at the premier for being late due to “road works”.

He then offered for Mr Cook to join their final song, and while he declined during his speech, he was quick the join the Castaways during the Sloop John B.
