Regional town treated to musical Afternoon Delights as Brunswick Singers put on a show
The Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault Football Club rooms were packed with applause as a chorus of singers dazzled the community with their songs at the weekend.
The Brunswick Singers held their show Afternoon Delights on Saturday, entertaining the community with popular covers of some much-loved songs.
The singers entertained the crowd with covers of John Denver, Neil Diamond and more, and breaking up the main performance, several smaller acts took to the stage.
Kath Evans captivated the crowd with a lovely rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow, complete with her own Toto nested in her picnic basket.
Roberta Treasure, Angie Princi, Margret Carbone and Jan George brought the glam of the 70s with their performance of ABBA’s Waterloo.
Leslie Peacock, Lindon Edwards and Pasana Manaroongruang captivated the crowd with their ukulele performance.
An unexpected surprise was Mike Jack’s handmade crank organ which delighted the crowd.
Mr Jack said the organ was a COVID project of his, reusing old parts he found to make the instrument.
He said the crank for the organ originally came from an old meat grinder.
Once the solo acts closed up, the singers treated the audience to a grand finale parodying Slim Dusty’s iconic Australian song Duncan.
The singers preformed an encore after a standing ovation to their song We Love to Have a Beer in Brunswick.
“’Cause Brunswick is great,” the crowd cheered.
