Shire of Waroona announces slight increase to minimum payments on differential rates within the shire

The minimum rate payment a landowner is expected to pay within the Shire of Waroona is set to rise slightly, as the shire introduces a change to the differential ratings.

The minimum rate payments will be rising $63 in the shire, going up from $1280 in 2023/2024 to $1343 in 2024/2025.

The minimum payment will be uniform across all rating zones within the shire with gross rental valuation and all categories of unimproved value properties making the slight increase.

The shire said imposing a single minimum payment across all rating categories recognises all ratepayers have an equal opportunity to enjoy the facilities and services provided by the council, regardless of the value of their property.

Shire president Mike Walmsley said the shire’s differential rating was an equitable way for residents and landowners to pay rates within the shire.

Any community members who are against the change can object the proposed rates before midday on August 2.

Submissions should be addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, Shire of Waroona, PO Box 20, Waroona WA, 6215 and must be clearly marked with the title Submission – Differential Rating 2023/2024, the shire said.
