South West shire now part of Community Water Supply Partnership Program

The Shire of Harvey is now part of an $8.6 State Government program ensuring communities have access to emergency water supplies.

The Community Water Supply Partnership program, enables local government authorities and incorporated community groups to apply for grants of up to $100,000.

The funds can be used for the construction or enhancement of water supplies to meet emergency needs such as firefighting and farming, or for improving townsite amenities such as sporting grounds and parks in order to reduce reliance on scheme water.

Thanks to recent a $1.5m expansion of the program, the Shire of Harvey and other South West communities are set to benefit.

Water Minister Simone McGurk said the program had already provided more than $4.3m in funding to help local communities develop climate resilient community water supplies.

“The Cook Government’s $1.5m boost to extend the program will help even more communities across the State adapt to changing rainfall patterns, helping them establish water security projects that conserve our most precious resource,” she said.
