More than 1000 people were drawn to Wokalup last weekend to explore one of the State’s most unique classrooms.

The WA College of Agriculture - Harvey swung open its gates on May 25 for its annual open day, drawing in students, parents and locals for an in-depth look at its facilities.

School officer Sue Fimmano said the perfect weather helped to make it a massively successful open day, as all areas of the college shined for the public.

“There was something for everyone; shearing, milking, produce to purchase, classroom and residential displays and many more things,” she said.

Ms Fimmano said people took advantage of the bus tours rambling through the farmland and students displayed projects, with a few items being raffled off and sold to raise money for the school’s country week trip.

As always, the school was visited by several former students keen to reconnect with the college, the memorabilia on show and the staff.

Associate principal Dean Pfitzner said the school has been working hard to build its history and memorabilia displays over the years, with photos, albums and banners all being donated by former students.

He said it was a particular highlight to see the school’s memorabilia on display, but this was one highlight among many including the bus tours, produce and items from students for sale.

“Hosting the event is important as it enables the students and staff to showcase the college and its offerings to the parents and carers, prospective students and the wider community,” he said.
