With a plan of making it easier than ever to enjoy the new facilities, the Waroona Aquatics Centre will reintroduce a 12-month membership.

The centre will be bringing back yearly pool memberships after a vote at the most recent council meeting on February 27 to allow two new 12-month membership programs for adults aged 16 and older, and children, students and pensioners.

Adults will be charged $325 per year to use the facility with children, students and pensioners to be charged $260 per year.

The current fee of $6 per swim for adults means anyone likely to visit the centre more than 55 times per year — a little more than once per week — would see a saving.

For children, students and pensioners who pay $5 for entry, the new cost would be the equivalent to 52 visits.

Waroona Shire Council hopes the new fees will encourage residents to visit the pool more regularly and promote a mentally and physically healthy lifestyle.

The pool underwent significant changes from 2017 to 2021, with maintenance frequently closing the pool.

Shire president Mike Walmsley said it would have been unfair to have yearly memberships during that time, so the membership was removed.

He said the pool was now doing well having been recently resealed and a new heat exchange installed.

“To buy an annual membership, you can go as many times as you like, and the more you go the better the deal,” he said.

The new memberships will be available from March 15.
