Railways launched a stunning second-half assault on Albany Raiders to notch a thrilling eight-point victory in round nine of the Albany Basketball Association women’s A-grade on Tuesday.

The Tigers erased an eight-point first-half deficit in a punishing 16-point second-half turnaround after dynamic duo Shanaya Weeden and Brodie Dixon took the game by the scruff of its neck.

The pair combined for the Tigers’ first 16 points of the second half, swiftly snatching the lead within three minutes and steering their side to a remarkable 40-32 triumph.

Dixon was dialled from the perimeter, sinking four three-pointers to lead her side’s offence with a team-high 14 points while Shanaya Weeden scored seven points including a bucket from beyond the arc.

The pair’s prolific scoring surge sparked a 23-4 Tigers run through the second, completely blowing the game apart for an unassailable 12-point lead.

The Raiders continued to press late with centre Keely Berry ferociously crashing the boards at both ends of the floor and playing a lone hand on offence with a game-high 18 points.

The first half was vastly different from the second. The opener fell into a dismal defensive slogfest for most of the 20 minutes.

Both teams struggled to find their offensive groove, and neither side was able to score a point for a 12-minute stretch.

However, when Ava Wignell finally netted the Raiders’ first points of the match at the 12-minute mark, they began to score more freely, and Berry took control of the fixture with 10 straight points.

Denmark star Danielle Carne put on a scoring clinic to lead the Magpies to a 25-point victory over Sonics Blue.

The gun centre and three-time ABA most valuable player scored 27 points in her side’s 51-26 win while Ashlee Kerr drained five triples for her 15 points.

Aleesha Narkle toiled on offence for Sonics Blue for 11 points with one three, while Amber Nekel scored nine points.

Barking Owls found numerous avenues to the hoop to notch a crushing 47-point win over Sonics Grey to stay undefeated.

Dakota Bremner (19 points), Keely Berry (14), Rebecca Benson (14) and Ava Marmion (13) all made their way into double figures for the Owls as they cruised to a 78-31 win.

Marmion hit three triples while Benson nailed two in the stirring win.

Sonics Grey were best served by Arthur who scored 11 points.
