Perth Wildcats thrash Brisbane Bullets in NBL as Bryce Cotton, Dylan Windler and Keanu Pinder dominate

Perth Wildcats star Kristian Doolittle says his team’s brilliant stretch of victories on the road is proof that they are prepared to back up their words with actions after producing a 112-85 win over Brisbane Bullets in Queensland. The Wildcats will return to RAC Arena on Friday night having won six of their seven consecutive games on the road over the festive period while increasing their percentage by 5.5 points. Having struggled outside of WA in the first half of the season, they are now perfectly placed to attack the run home with five of their last six matches to be played at RAC Arena. Doolittle said they had embraced every challenge that had come their way and committed to doing the hard work required to win. “It’s putting action behind words. It’s one thing to say that you want to win, it’s another thing to get out there and do it. Not everybody can do that,” he said. “I feel like that has been the main reason why we’ve been able to turn it around and go on this nice winning streak. It’s something that has to happen if you are serious about winning a championship, which we are, and we’ve been doing them. “We’re understanding that to succeed in the play-offs we have to be able to win on the road. The only way to prepare for that is by doing it during the season. “We went 6-1 on the road so we feel good right now, understanding we have a lot of home games coming up. We have to take that same energy we’ve been approaching the games with on the road to at home as well.” Bryce Cotton continued his dominant season with 36 points, Keanu Pinder came off the bench to score 19 points and win six rebounds, while Dylan Windler had another big game with 16 points, six rebounds, three steals and three blocks. Brisbane had huge injury concerns with five players unavailable and the Wildcats made them pay with a 38-15 second quarter. Perth’s ability to tear teams apart has been a feature of their time on the road with four wins by more than 20 points. Coach John Rillie wasted little time in making them understand their job isn’t done. “It’s coming along.,” he said. “We’ll get tested again on Friday night when we return home against Adelaide. I’ve been patient with this team and with the way we are heading. But I am nervous that we may relax. That’s been addressed.”
