Handy moto tags keep track of your valuables

As travellers we know that keeping track of your valuables can be stressful. Thankfully we are seeing more and more compact tracking devices that pair with your smartphone — and they can be a big help.

Smartphone provider Motorola has expanded its product offerings to include a new Android-compatible tracking device called moto tag.

Like Apple’s AirTags, the moto tag can pinpoint your missing items anywhere around the world. The moto tag uses Google’s end-to-end-encrypted Find My Device network of over a billion Android devices worldwide to locate your tag.

The moto tag emits a secure Bluetooth Low Energy signal that’s automatically detected by Android devices up to 100 metres away. These devices then send the location of your moto tag to Google, which allows you (and only you) to see its location on a map.

The tags have a replaceable battery with up to a full year of life, and an IP67 underwater protection rating, which means they can survive being submerged in up to 1m-deep fresh water for up to 30 minutes.

Moto tags also have a dedicated ringer button that can be used to locate your phone if you have lost it and the round button design fits popular third-party tracking-device accessories, allowing you to easily attach it to just about anything.

Moto tags come in Jade Green and Starlight Blue colours and are available in Australia exclusively at Harvey Norman group stores. You can buy a single pack for $55 or a four pack for $179.
