Bradley Allen Noakes: Albany man released on bail after committing third indecent act towards women this year

An Albany man who masturbated in a woman’s garden and knocked on her window asking for sex at 4.30am has been bailed for the indecent act — his third conviction this year for exposing himself. Bradley Allen Noakes was granted bail in Albany Magistrates Court from Albany Regional Prison on Thursday, despite the magistrate registering concerns that he “seems to be approaching all sorts of people”, noting that the court cannot place protective conditions on “all women in the community”. The 37-year-old appeared via video link and pleaded guilty to stalking the woman and performing an indecent act on her property with intent to insult or offend. Early on November 29, the FIFO worker, who was wearing only a jumper and no pants, jumped the fence to her backyard where he banged on her windows and masturbated. He then approached her CCTV security cameras and masturbated while holding an iPad, before removing the fly screen from her bedroom window and asking her to have sex with him. The woman, who lives alone, called police who arrested Noakes at his home at 9am — a day after he was granted bail for another indecent act charge. On November 24, he entered a woman’s home in Orana under the guise of searching for his lost dog and when prompted to pass over his phone so she could provide her contact details, showed her a photo of his exposed penis. In January, Noakes was fined $1200 for masturbating on to a different woman’s porch while watching pornography. Defence lawyer Sonia Anderson said Noakes was usually “helpful” and “productive” but was heavily intoxicated during the latest offence, had just returned from a long FIFO swing and believed he was spiked with drugs by his friends. “Mr Noakes only has a vague memory of walking around the front of the house, being disorientated, and trying to get back to his own house,” she said. “He believes (the victim), and accepts it was bizarre and problematic. “He can’t understand what he was doing and is shocked, embarrassed and appalled.” Police prosecutor Senior Constable Megan Diver opposed bail, saying the “concerning escalation” in offending posed a risk to the community. Despite being hesitant to grant bail, Magistrate Erin O’Donnell ultimately did so on the provisos Noakes resided at his parents’ home, did not contact the women, did not consume alcohol, and complied with regular breath and urinalysis testing. “It is impossible to put protective conditions in place for all the women in the community,” she said. “At this point, you seem to to have propensity for this. “You’ve been behaving in some very frightening ways.” Noakes is due to appear for sentencing on March 13.
