More than 100 people gathered at the Harvey Recreation and Cultural Centre to enjoy a Christmas feast last week hosted by the Harvey Lions Club.

A small army of volunteers from the Harvey and Pinjarra Lions clubs, students from Harvey Senior High School and other residents came together to provide a feast for about 130 of the community’s senior citizens.

Members of the local volunteer bush fire brigade worked the bar.

The event played host to a range of dignitaries, with the soon-to-retire Member for Forrest Nola Marino in attendance, as well as Murray-Wellington MLA Robyn Clarke, Harvey shire president Michelle Campbell, and deputy shire president John Bromham.

While the event was co-ordinated and run by the Harvey Lions Club, members said they could not have done it without the support of the shire, Mrs Marino, Harvey Fresh, Harvey Beef, Harvey Bizee Hands, and the Harper Street Bakery.

To add to the feast, guests were graced with performances from the Bianca Panetta Academy of Dance, the Senior Citizen Boot Scooters and local duo Dan and Sophia, with Harvey Community Radio’s Duncan Booth running the mic for the night.

Even Santa made an appearance.
