Smart maiden win from youngster Parc It In Here, trainer Rebecca Bayliss scores Boxing Day double in Albany

Impressive youngster Parc It In Here broke his maiden status in strong fashion, while Albany trainer Rebecca Bayliss scored a winning double on Boxing Day at Percy Spencer Racecourse. Parc It In Here was well supported into $5 in the W&R Commercial Management Maiden (1500m), and stormed home from seventh on the turn to win by nearly one length. The Playing God four-year-old finished fifth at his first two starts but was well handled by jockey Jason Whiting on December 26. They settled back in the field and ran home strongly to get the better of Optimal, while $2 favourite Elegant Peak was three lengths further back in third. Parc It In Here ran the fastest final 600m time in the field of nine to give his large group of owners plenty of optimism going forward. Earlier, Bayliss notched a winning double after Rudhyar and Cycle Song both saluted on the seven-race program. Despite lumping 62kg after the claim of apprentice Chanel Cooper, Rudhyar was too good at his second WA start. Rudhyar jumped a $3.80 chance in the W&R Residential Sales Handicap (1940m) and got over the top of Billy Jack and Oddoneout in the home straight to win by a long head. Song Cycle ($2.45) was given a lovely run by the region’s leading jockey Tash Faithfull, sitting fourth before powering home to grab Stormy’s Show ($3.20) in the final couple of strides and win race two over 1240m. It was only the six-year-old’s second start for the Bayliss stable. Comeback jockey Jessica Valas tasted success in the W&R Residential Management Maiden (1240m) as Foxmania produced a commanding win. The Indianna Weinert-trained Foxmania ($3.70) led throughout and skipped clear in the final 200m to win by nearly two lengths over Brandberg. It was Valas’ second victory since returning to the saddle. Albany trainer Ashleigh Woollett continued her impressive season in the Great Southern as Secret Stones won the W&R Commercial Sales Handicap (1500m). The result brought up a winning double for Whiting, who had Secret Stones just off the leaders before pouncing in the final 100m to down Fight In Flight by a half-head. Faithfull brought up a double when rising star Flick The Switch scored yet another Albany victory. Flick The Switch was a narrow half-head winner of the W&R Meir Moir Panizza Handicap (1000m) over Frantic War. It is a third win in a row for the Samantha Faithfull-trained four-year-old mare, and her fourth of the campaign after she won first-up in Narrogin in November. The final race on the card was won by $31 outsider Agent Jay for trainer Stephen Sheehy and jockey Mollie Clark. Rider Beaux Banovic-Edwards received a 10-day careless riding suspension on A Gift From God in race four and will return to the saddle on January 7.
