Yanchep death investigation: Police comb bush for any evidence relating to a serious brawl on Capilano Avenue

Police are combing the roadside in a suburb north of Perth in connection with an ongoing investigation into a serious brawl that resulted in a man’s death. Officers were seen conducting a line search along Yanchep Beach Road in Yanchep on Saturday morning amid the hot conditions, with temperatures surpassing 30C by 10am as potential evidence was bagged and logged as they went. The roadside search will take in the bushland near Yanchep Beach Road, Spinnaker Boulevard and St Andrews Drive, with road users in the area urged to exercise caution throughout the day. It comes a week after a 28-year-old man died following a brawl that erupted between a group of people in the early hours of December 14 on Capilano Avenue. Police officers on duty in the area at the time discovered the man after intercepting a car being driven by his friends on Wanneroo Road between Trian Road and Kiro Street in Carabooda, about 11km south of Yanchep, around 3am. They were on their way to a hospital when the officers intervened, a spokesperson said. After stopping the car, police gave the man first aid until St John WA paramedics arrived, but he was unable to be revived. Major crime detectives are investigating and last week said several people were assisting with inquiries. Saturday’s roadside search is expected to continue through the day.
