Harvey products Brady Hough and Clay Hall battled hard as West Coast’s AFL and WAFL sides suffered heavy losses at the weekend. The Eagles’ senior outfit suffered a 76-point loss to the Western Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium on Sunday, while the reserves team opened their State league campaign with a 64-point defeat at the hands of Swan Districts on Saturday. At Marvel the two teams broke even in the inside-50 battle with 51 apiece, giving Hough’s defence some much-needed breathing room, but the hosts managed to come up with 26 scoring shots from their opportunities. Hough was typically-composed with ball in hand on the big stage, going at a disposal efficiency of 100 per cent while registering eight kicks and four handballs, as his match-up for much of the day, dangerous Bulldogs forward Cody Weightman, booted two goals. In his first official outing wearing the blue and gold, Hall was typically industrious in the WAFL contest, ending his day with 18 disposals and two tackles. The game was not the 18-year-old’s first time coming up against bigger bodies, having played nine league games for Peel Thunder last season. Former South Bunbury forward Leigh Kohlmann, who booted 110 goals for South Bunbury in the South West Football League last season, finished with six goals for the Black Ducks.
