The Harvey Hockey Club are celebrating after one of its teams took out their grade’s premiership with a well-deserved victory.

The A3 men’s team claimed victory in the 2023 Bunbury Districts Hockey Association grand final on September 16 with a 3-1 win against Marist at Hay Park.

After losing to the team by one point in extra time during the semifinals, Harvey had their eyes on the prize after fighting their way back into grand final contention with a preliminary win against Exies.

Facing Marist with determination to get the job done, the Harvey team fought the highly contested right up until the final siren.

Player Keane Bavin secured the lead for the team with his two-goal performance before Brenton Fielder swept away their opponent’s hopes on claiming victory with an additional goal.

Fielder was awarded player of the match, while player-coaches Chris Cherubino and Chris McDonald finished their first year of coaching on a high.

The team finished first of the final Bunbury Districts Hockey Association ladder for the season, claiming both the premiership and the A3 Men’s Challenge Cup.
