A local council has put the callout to recognise the hard work and dedication of individuals and group giving back to their community.

Nominations are now open to enter deserving recipients into the 2023 Shire of Harvey Community Awards.

Held every year in June, the awards celebrate the achievements of Shire residents and groups who make an exceptional contribution to their community.

There are four categories open this year.

The Meritorious Service Award recognises a resident who has gone above and beyond in their service of the community and is generally only awarded to those who have made an “outstanding contribution” to one or more organisations for more than 10 years.

The Appreciation Award can be awarded to residents who have made significant efforts to give back for at least the past three years.

The Youth Award recognises the service of a young person aged between 12 and 25 years of age, while the Community Group Award is awarded to an organisation based within the Shire of Harvey which has made a “significant contribution” to the community for at least five years.

Nominations close on April 30.
