South West MLC Colin Holt had good news for Quambie Park today when he announced $1.84 million Royalties for Regions funding towards the Quambie Park Waroona Housing Options Village.

The $3 million project will add nine independent living units and a community hub to the age care facility and has been in the pipeline for some years.

The Quambie Park Park board will fund the shortfall and also apply for Federal funding to meet the target.

Chairman Mike Walmsley said there was a demand in town and as aged care was becoming increasingly expensive, Quambie Park wants to offer affordable independent living units for the town’s residents.

“This is a great start for us and the funding is an indication for us that we provide a valuable service of high standard,” he said.
