On Saturday night Harvey’s Town Hall will be filled with Christmas cheer as community members come together to celebrate the annual Seniors Christmas Dinner.

The free event has been running for 66 years and has had great success.

With more than 150 guests signed up for this year’s event, committee member Janine Quicke said the event would not be possible without the help from community volunteers.

“There are about 30 volunteers that have signed up to help set up the Town Hall and food prep the meals,” Ms Quicke said.

“As well as this, the Harvey Volunteer Bushfire Brigade will provide volunteers to serve drinks on the night, so it’s really all hands on deck.”

Ms Quick said entertainment would be in full swing on the night.

“We have a lot of local entertainment including dancers from Bianca Panetta’s Dance Academy, a sing-a-long of Christmas Carols will be performed by the choir,” she said.

“There will also be door prizes, a raffle and a take home gift on entry.”

In the spirit of Christmas, a three-course meal will be provided, with local and donated ingredients.

“The beef will be provided by Harvey Beef, potatoes are from Myalup grower Patane Produce, and the rest of the food has been donated by SUPA IGA,” she said.

“It is sure to be a great night and I encourage those over 65 to come along and join in the festive fun.”
