Thousands roll up for biggest show yet
WAROONA All Australian Car Day had its biggest year yet with thousands drawn to the town by more than 400 vintage and classic cars.
Hosted by the Just Cruizin’ Street Machines car club, about 6000 people attended the show at Waroona Showgrounds.
Event coordinator Naomi Purcell said it was the event’s biggest year yet with more than 430 cars on display as well as markets and food trucks.
“There’s still room for more though,” she said.
Ms Purcell said many community groups were essential to the day including the Waroona Leos, Waroona Girl Guides, Waroona Playgroup and Waroona District High School Year 6 students.
“We definitely couldn’t do it without all of them,” she said.
Ms Purcell said the event drew a lot of people from outside Waroona to the town, with good feedback from businesses.
“It was great for tourism as well, lots of people coming to town,” she said.
The winner of the Judge’s Choice, sponsored by Just Cruizin’ Street Machines, was a 1929 Ford Tourer hot rod. The People’s Choice Trophy, sponsored by Alcoa, went to a Holden Torana SLR 5000.
The Top Club Award, sponsored by Quinfo, was presented to the GTR XU1 Torana Club of WA and the Best Car on Ground, sponsored by Shannons, went to a Holden FB with red flames.
