Sam Kerr arrives at Perth Airport to see her grandmother Coral in hospital after she was hit by a car

Matildas skipper Sam Kerr has rushed back to Perth with her parents to be by her grandmother’s side after she was hit by a car. Kerr and parents Roger and Roxanne touched down in Perth on Saturday afternoon to be with Coral Kerr, who was seriously injured on Friday morning when she was run down after getting off a bus. Former Eagles premiership player Daniel Kerr was on hand to pick up his sister and their parents. It is understood that Coral, 89, was just metres from her Palmyra home when the incident unfolded. Neighbours allege a man had tried to overtake the stopped bus in a white Great Wall ute near the intersection of Marmion and Justinian streets. The driver has been charged with one count of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm. Sam had been in the Hunter Valley with fiancee Kristie Mewis celebrating the nuptials of teammate Emily van Egmond, who married partner Kat Thompson in the NSW vineyard region on Friday. Her grandmother was on Saturday afternoon in a stable but serious condition at Royal Perth Hospital.
