Association gears up for new season
The Waroona Amateur Basketball Association is gearing up for another action-packed season.
The club recently called for both senior and junior nominations with both competitions to start next month.
Association president Brad Vitale said he was excited to start the 2020-2021 season.
“I am pleased to say that the season will go ahead and the strong and rich basketball history in Waroona will continue,” Vitale said.
He said the committee would work towards rejuvenating the culture at the club and providing access to fun, safe and engaging basketball.
Vitale said he was committed to streamlining operations, improving the association’s reputation and increasing communication and promotion.
He said he wanted to invest in developing the players, coaches and umpires to build a sustainable competition.
This year’s committee also consists of Lynda Le Roy, Tony Dimasi, Daniel Cools, Leah Seubert, Paula Birch and Anthony Ticehurst.
The club will be releasing life membership profiles on its website to acknowledge the contribution of people over the years.
“This will be of particular interest to family members and friends of each life member as there are many children and grandchildren that are now engaging in basketball in Waroona,” Vitale said.
“It will be great to see our junior members especially, identifying local community members that they may not have realised have played such an important role in developing the association to the high standard it is now.”
The seniors competition is due to tip off on October 12 and the juniors on October 14.
