Chinese shooting duo Huang Yuting and Sheng Lihao won the first gold medal of the Paris Olympics, beating South Korea's Keum Ji Hyeon and Park Ha Jun in the 10m air rifle mixed team final.

The Chinese teenagers won 16-12 at the French national shooting centre in Chateauroux.

Sheng took silver in the individual event at the Tokyo Games three years ago while it is a first Olympics for the 17-year-old Huang.

Sheng, 19, also holds the qualification world record in the individual discipline and starts his bid for individual men's glory on Sunday before Monday's final.

"My main feeling is just happiness. The match was quite hard, but being able to do a personal best performance helped a lot," Sheng said.

"It's only the beginning for me."
