Community members come together to form regional town’s first Town Team

A group of community members have come together to form a regional town’s first Town Team.
Waroona’s new Town Team, comprised of locals passionate about improving the community, was announced by the Shire of Waroona last week.
It was formed after a meeting at Memorial Hall that gathered together community members aiming to work together with the shire to deliver improvements to the local area.
Shire president Mike Walmsley said great community ideas were always community driven.
“It’s lovely to see a group come together with a bit of passion and enthusiasm to direct us where we need to go as a council,” he said.
“I’m looking forward to seeing what the Town Team movement has for us, some of their vision and what ideas they will come up with.
“The best ideas are always community driven. We as council can do a bit, but we need the community backing us, so it’s important they come forward with their ideas.”
Cr Walmsley said though recent consultation improving the Main Street was a high priority for many in town, it would be exciting to see what changes may occur via the Town Team.
Waroona residents are still able to join the team by contacting the shire’s community development team at cdo@waroona.wa.gov.au.
